#TeamXRay: Samantha Howells, Bethan Jenkins, George Partridge, Alex Moore, Anna Watson, Leanne Edwards, Mghululi Ngwenya, Karen Bryant, Sarah-Lou Jardine, Alison Christie, Suzanne Baker and Nikki Webber.

A group of 12 radiographers from Nevill Hall Hospital in South Wales will be running the Cardiff half marathon to support a colleague who has just finished cancer treatment.

The radiographers were inspired to raise money for the money after their colleague, Amy McRae, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 38.

They will be running for The Haven breast cancer charity, where Amy ‘received support, advice and made some good friends’ during her treatment.

One of the runners, Samantha Howells, said, “We were all absolutely devastated that this was happeningto Amy, who was always so happy, kind and just loved by everyone.”

“As a department, we wanted to do something and needed something to focus on, so we decided to run the half marathon and it made sense to raise money for this brilliant place!”

Amy has now finished her treatment and is beginning her phased return to work.

The team will be running on 6 October and are hoping to raise a thousand pounds for the charity.

“As a group, we have received such great support so far from all our friends and colleagues and lots of them, along with Amy, will be there cheering us on,” Samantha said.

“The training has been tough but we’re getting through it together and we hope to raise lots of money for this amazing charity!”
