Gill Hodges talks about the presidential year ahead

9 July, 2019

In her first interview as SCoR President, Gill Hodges talked about what she is looking forward to during her year, what challenges she anticipates, and what she is hoping to influence during her leadership.

“Role development and advancing radiographers is something I’m passionate about,” she said.

“I like to see the right person in the right job and I like to see radiographers developing and pushing against boundaries.

On the difficulties she will face during her time as president, Gill noted that Brexit and the appointment of the next prime minister will have an effect on the future of the NHS.

“I hate hearing people say, ‘I’m just a radiographer’ or ‘I’m just a student’; you’re not just a student, you’re training to be a highly-valued professional,” Gill said.

“A lot of radiographers don’t value their own worth as a professional and that’s something that we need to work on.”
